Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
